key dip, dip in.....

Hello there,

I was told the mm measure is took at the front of the key, with a
rule eventually (not very convenient) and the Yamaha block is s 10 mm
at its extremity.
That would mean a little less at the finger place (above the pin).

We use to check the dip with a 'star' made of brass, and use it at a
few mm from the extremity of the key.

But I've find the dip gauge to be fast and efficient, as Andre say,
that is all a matter of pressure when regulating, because it is more
or less easy to feel the mm dip while playing, but it is different
when using the block, particularly if the backchecks are not more or
less ok, and if the punching are too soft.

Regards.

P.S I used the Andre's glue and it is a very cool glue for hammers.
