Sure it works , and the tuning last longer too if they can't bang on it. But it is yet necessary to have the most "natural" regulation (no violence, but enough strength) & voicing to keep a piano in shape longer. Despite of it, if the pianist is a piano killer, he will find ways to mistreat the instrument always.
