My understanding is that there is no "standard", and the speaking 
length(s), give or take, is (are) determined by where the plate ends up 
after fitting the block.  With most models in the 46-52mm range for C-8, 
the S seems to be somewhere in the 56-62mm range. Every one a new adventure.
