Hi Terry,
                Take a drill bit that just fits thro' the plate holes, One 
pull of the trigger to centre mark the hole, gives a perfect centre, that 
will not allow the drill bit to wander.  Then I drill with a 1/4" drill, 
then ream out with the correct sized bit.
