I have a set of "musician's earplugs" (compliments of the US Gov. and all those paying SE tax) from when I was in a military band. I found at first I had to pull them out a little to tune the top octave, but with a little time I learned to tune that portion of the piano with them in as well. Now, I wouldn't tune a piano without them. They filter the frequencies more evenly than foam. The best thing about them is the customers asking me why I'm wearing hearing aids. Peter Lamos _____________________ selahpiano@hotmail.com I did some sound level measurements on several pianos in my shop this week. The DB meter was held at about the distance my ear would be from the strings and soundboard. Using solid rather strong blows I measured sound levels well over 100 dbs on both grands and uprights. _______________________________________________ pianotech list info: https://www.moypiano.com/resources/#archives
