    But if the piano is producing say, 90 to 105dB, then your ears are still getting 75 to 90 dB with the plugs that attenuate 15dB, and an even higher level with the 9dB plugs.  90 is the threshhold of hearing damage.  Or do you tune really softly?  But then why would you need the earplugs?
