Need lid for 1915 Baldwin F

If Baldwin can't help, and if you shop around to see what local woodworkers might charge, you may well find that the fees Mr. Hughes charges get more and more reasonable.

I have had a lidless square grand in my shop for more than a year. I tried to get a lid made for it -several carpenters came out and inspected the piano and measured, etc. ............. and then they RAN out the door, never to be heard from again. The piano owner then had their personal carpenter inspect it for an estimate ....... never even got an estimate from that dude. I guess my point is that it may be more difficult that you would think to just find someone to make a lid.

What kind of fees are you running into? I would guess somewhere between $2K and $3K? Hmmmmm, I wonder if there is more money in lids than soundboards??? Can't be all that hard to do. Can it?

Just curious, what is wrong with the old lid?
