Any time you change the damper felt (and assuming that the felt is not a
perfect match for thickness) you will have to reregulate the height of the
sostenuto rod.

I believe that the Steinway Sost doesn't need much up and down
regulation so I have always simply applied pressure one way or the
other up or down for that adjustment.  I haven't had to change the
leather punchings...
