Well put Charles. Back to the topic. When I was faced with your situation, I ordered the 1/3 lb reels with the brakes from Shaff. I don't like wire that spools out of the center. $6.60 a wire size. I ordered a #12, and half sizes from13 to 16, whole sizes to 20. I think I had to use some 20 as the leader to tie a knot in a bass string. Won't break too many in the upper range. Even so sometimes its a toss up as to whether you want to size it a half size smaller to duplicate the tinny stretched out sound and size of an old string. I have not had to order any other sizes since the first order. It was 12 reels for around $80. As far as I have to range, a return visit is very costly sometimes so I have my wire with me at all times. Well worth it.
