Hi, James, I posted this summer regarding an attachment on an old piano I was servicing. It had both a full felt mute strip for quiet playing, as well as a separate attachment with a series of leather strips that would come down between hammers and strings to give a more "honky tonk" sort of sound. This device had strips for every hammer in the action. It was rather an ingenious affair.
