Hi Joseph, Calin,

Indeed, in one af the later pianofortes by Christofori as soon as 1726!
"there is no stop for forte but only 'Verschiebung' (i.e. Una Corda, a
mechanism for sliding the keyboard and action laterally so that the hammers
strike one only out of each pair of strings".
This stop is worked by wrought iron levers placed underneath the keyboard,
one on the left and one on the right. (Harding - Leipzig museum?)
