Pedal rods

Just looking for some help here regarding replacing a set of pedal rods
in the type of lyre that  has a block of wood at each end....the back of
the pedals are not exposed.

The caller lost her set of rods while relocating to my town.  Schaff
offers 2 types of replacements, but the type with the adjustable barrel
at the top won't work.  Is the "other" type the one to get?

And, how difficult are they to replace?

Any tricks to it?
