Subject piano: 50-year old Bremen (by Gulbransen) console. At the annual tuning 2 weeks ago, a couple of keys were down. Compact action, not drop (no elbows). Lifted the keys, they stayed up, the notes played, but the keys stayed down after playing. These notes, as well as many others whose keys did return, had a high-friction sluggish feel, and made a gritty rubbing noise when played. I repaired the 2 notes and gave a quote for the remaining notes, which was declined. Today she called and said there are many more keys down (the 2 I repaired are OK). What was wrong, and why did it happen?
