Modulus of Elasticity. An indication of a material's stiffness within its
elastic limits. A high MOE indicates a stiff material, a low MOE indicates
a more flexible material. Longitudinally--that is, with the grain--spruce
has a moderately high MOE. Perpendicularly--that is, across the grain--it
has a fairly low MOE.
