Unions in piano factories.

What union or unions are the workers organized under? How many
belong?

In the 80's after the sale to CBS I heard one tech extol the anti
virtues of unionization. He said, "they said you shouldn't be
notching bridges all day, you should do another task to break the
monotony". I know he was never a production worker in the
factory, but he claimed to have regulated the owner's piano.

It is always going to be a "war" between management and unions, so
for us technicians to understand it better I wonder what the wages
are?
I am sure there is a difference between "production" workers and
"finishing" workers, ie the regulators, tuners and voicers. I
understand the NYC met area is one of the highest cost of living
areas on the planet.
