Yes... well when it comes right down to it I am not a fan of assist springs, and the reason is largely that I dont see their neccessity to begin with, nor view the advantages as large enough to bother with. I know I know.. a cute little screw allows you to vary the effective touchweight quickly, but I dont see this in itself is a profundomundo type big deal. Besides, another screw just means another thing for some uninitiated to muck up. But... its fun to play with ideas... and if one first is to accept the idea of a helper spring.... it just seemed an interesting thought to play around with the idea of a hammer shank assist spring. > There should be no helper springs at all, I think, unless all the > natural ways to overcome excess weight have been exhausted. Unless you want to go beyond a Mid-top Strikeweight zone, or for some reason use far less leads then the SWRatio and SWs will allow for... you dont need them at all. That gives a pretty large range of configurations for an action and should be plenty enough to cover most anyones needs IMHO. Still... its fun to play around with ideas eh ?? > > Antares, > The Netherlands -- Richard Brekne RPT, N.P.T.F.
