May I insert another newbie question?  Intuitively (which is so often wrong,
especially in physics), it would seem that two strings could have the same
deflection angle, yet exert different amounts of pressure on the bridge in
the vector perpendicular to the soundboard.

I could imagine that since the tuned pitch of the string is constant, that
eliminates a few variables (since equal pitch accounts for string mass and
tension), but... hmm, maybe there are no other variables to account for?
