Hi Terry, The P-22 is a 45" verses the 500's 44". I don't know the precise measurements, but the strungback is noticeably thicker and heavier in the P-22, I would say close to an inch thicker. The action is a good bit larger, there again, I'm guessing at least an inch taller. I've always considered the P-22 to be just a plain jane tank. I've also had some trouble tuning the high treble on the P models due to some noise there that I just can't get cleaned up to my satisfaction. The bass and middle registers tune well. The 500's on the other hand tune really easy in the high treble, where the very highest notes just sing out as plain as it gets. IMHO the bass and middle registers can sound a little harsh if not voiced properly. The actions are smaller and the strungbacks less sturdy. The new P-models, the P-600's are something I would look closely at If I were buying a piano for myself. They have the same strungback, and action as the P-22, but a more furniture style cabinet, i.e. the 500's. Just have to really take your time in the high treble when tuning. Hope this helps. Benny L. She is looking at the M500S. I am familiar with the P-22. Besides the cabinet, how do these two pianos differ? I see they both have the same length A0 string - does this mean they have the same stringing scale? Is the M500S also a studio (full size action)? Thanks. > > Terry Farrell > > _______________________________________________ > pianotech list info: https://www.moypiano.com/resources/#archives
