Steinway bass string

Clyde,
I had a bass string break on a Steinway I was giving a huge pitch raise
to. I tied it and took down model number, serial number and string's
number position for the left and ordered a replacement from Schaff. I
explained the nuisance of settling a new string in and she chose to live
with the knotted string as it had "caused no problems." We put the
replacement string in the piano bench and I eventually moved away.
Some will want the new "perfect" string and will also expect numerous
followup visits to pull it back up to tune. Better establish a minimum
call-out charge in that case.

Regards,
Andrew
