I see your line of thought on this one St=E9phane - definitely no =
varnish on this bridge cap to dampen string vibrations - in fact, no =
bridge cap top at all!
No it did not have good sustain. But then again, it didn't have any good =
piano either. This is a 1920s Aeolian Knabe that is simply thoroughly =
worn out from head to toe. And ex-player that has been played out - and =
eaten out! I would not recommend drawing ANY conclusions about bridge =
cap varnish from this piano.
