Just a tip of what your local library can do for you:

If you're looking for an "out of the ordinary" book, or even one that's not,
a great way to preview the book, is to borrow it from your library.  If your
local library doesn't have it, it can usually be gotten on what is called
Inter-Library Loan.  I've borrowed books from all over the US.  If there is
any cost, it is usually quite low.  After having a chance to look at it for
a couple of weeks, it's easy to determine whether or not it's something
you'd like to purchase.

I've saved myself a lot of money doing this, not to mention avoiding the
frustration of purchasing a book that doesn't quite measure up to what I was
expecting.
