I've always thought that an "x"-"y" jig, used for duplicating turnings,
etc., coupled with a plunge type router, would possibly do what you are
contemplating. Just a thought. The only reason I haven't tried it, is my
shop is too small for such a big contraption.<G> (so much to do and so
little space!:-()
