I find PVC-E, does a good job. You don't need to clamp, and cleans up with water.

  most of the time I do exactly the same as you  - the iron and damp cloth routine. Plus if you do it this way IMO you can save most of the ivories especially the good ones and if need be you get some good replacement ones for another job.
  What glue do you use to stick the new the new ones on with??
