Maybe I should have put it this way:

What advantage does the Accu-fork have over less expensive tone generators (i.e. inexpensive metronnomes)? Has anyone proved that the accufork is more reliable and/or accurate?

Besides that, it is a tax write off, so in a way, we shouldn't give price, such a consideration, for a quality tool.
Then again, starting out, price does have more weight.

Don't think it at all over priced. DVD's/watches are manufactured in the thousands! When you make an electronic device for a small specific group of people the cost for the boards and parts in small quantities is much higher.

List,

I've contemplated buying an Accu-fork a few times but I just couldn't see spending $100 on an electronic pitch generator. Maybe 25 years ago the price could've been justified because the prices of electronics were so expensive (I remember the first digital watch I saw: It gave time and date and sold for $100. They sell similar watches now in $1 stores!) But now you can buy a dvd/vcr player for $100, palm computers for $100, etc. The Accu-fork seems way overpriced!

Also I notice that most electronic metronomes have a tone generator that will produce A440. Mine produces A440-A445. I paid $16 for it.

Has anybody compared the accuracy of the Accu-fork vs. a typical electronic metronome's A440 tone? Has anybody checked the accuracy of these devices with full charge batteries and then with low batteries? Does temperature make a significant difference? Inquiring minds want to know!
