Pronunciation of KNABE?

Hello there,

It is strange that no one seems to have mentioned it (maybe I missed it...),
but the word Knabe is a German word meaning "boy". Ttherefore, the way it is
pronounced (and by "it is" I don't mean that it's Holy Writ) derives from
the German pronounciation which, at least in this particular case, seems
like something we can manage. That explains why the "K" is pronounced, and
also why the final "E" is made to sound like "UH" or "EH"-like. That's how I
always heard it pronounced (on the east coast at least).

Hope this contributes something worthwhile to the discussion.

Jean-Jacques Granas
