Is it for a vertical piano ? if so the tool is know as "jack spring hole cleaner" You really can make one yourself with some good metal tubing the good size, where you cut a few teeth with a metal saw. Out of the piano trade , some companies are producing some kind of tubing drills in case a nail or a screw is lost in the wood so you can drill around them. Also, unless a large amount of glue is in the hole it is not necessary to clean all, I have never glued back the new spring anyway, and have never cleaned to the wood the old hole, without any real problem (sometime a click or obliged to clean a hole more). Do you have addresses in the US if you want to buy the real tool ? I am in France, so I am not of a big help from here, but I can give German addresses for the best tools in Europe. like http://www.jahn-pianoteile.de/ they write in English, the catalog is on line in PDF form use the username "Klaviermeister" and password "Klaviermeister" to access the site. Good luck And a Very good year 2004 ! Isaac OLEG Entretien et réparation de pianos.
