Thanks Dale. I've been doing just that but I'm not happy with the
repeatability of measurements. There's just got to be a better way. Any other gauges out
there? I seem to remember a Journal article with a dial gauge of some kind. Am
I dreaming?

I made some of John Hartmans stick bearing gauges & am just getting around
to using them. They don't lie. He posted picture a month or so back.
What are you using the gauge for primarily? What is it you want it to tell
you? Sounds like a duh question but humor me. I use the Loweel gauge to read
my strung up boards. I want to see .012 to .018 residual bearing.
