I am just going to add something I was formerly working in Caracas, I do not know how many remember me, I am still on the list, but since i moved to Florida 18 month ago I did not have much time to write on the list. I always liked experimenting and I will do it with parts which are mine before doing it at a customer house. I used to defend WD 40 because when I was in Venezuela I tested it, and it worked fine, not only that, as I said in one of my emails years ago, I had pianos where I trated center pins with WD 40 several years before and working right. Humidity in Caracas is similar to the one in Florida, temperature is different, I still do not know why, I did the same tests here, before using it at customer's house I tested it on different parts I did exchange from different pianos and surprise, after some time the center pins become sticky. wood will keep indefinitley oily ( In Caracas if used in very low quantity it dissapeared after some time) I will have to keep testing, but if this results are as they are with WD 40 then I could suspect of other products that could vary depending where they are being used.
