The math would be the easy part. It would be the cotangent(distance laser
moves on target /distance from the laser to target) You might want to set it
up so that the laser only pivoted. I.e., you would want the laser stationary
with respect to its longitudinal position on the string so that the distance
from the laser to the target remained the same. Centered over the bridge
might be a good place.  If you physically moved the laser down the string
for each section, you would also have to remeasure your distance to the
target for each calculated angle. Of course, if the distance to the target
is substantial enough, the variance in distance to target might become
insignificant.
