Tuning styles with octaves

Fascinating.Please describe the process. You tune one A4 string to the fork,
then the full A4 unison? Then one string of A3 to the full A4 unison? And
you complete each unison as you go? And what if you have to go back and
correct? Not skeptical here, just tremendously curious.
