According to this months Music Trades mag, Samick has purchased an =
overwhelming interest in Young_Chang. Not Baldwin. Wonder how that =
effects the making of Essex pianos for Steinway?

I heard that Samick purchased Young-Chang, and possibly Baldwin.
Now how is that for a rumour.

    Dave,

My understanding is that Weber was marketed by Samsung, the Korean =
electronics company, and they stopped the piano business Jan 1, 2004.

I completed one of theses jobs early this year. I contacted Chad =
Frye at 201 902-0920. He ordered and sent me the brackets with =
instructions (took about 1 month). I sent him an invoice and was =
promptly paid in about 2 weeks.=20

Chad told me that even though Samsung stopped selling pianos, they =
will continue to honor warranty issues for the next few years at least. =
The previous 800 number is no longer working, but the 201 New Jersey =
number should work.=20

I have never heard of Samick purchasing Young Chang. Has anyone else =
heard this?

I am looking forward to doing this job. I'm sure the customer won't =
be looking forward to it, because Weber is out of business, and the =
phone and fax numbers I've tried are no longer functional. They honored =
warrantees for awhile, but that time is passed. And given their current =
state of affairs--Young Chang was just purchased(by Samick, =
right?)--they probably won't be interested in honoring Weber warrantees. =
Plus they are in the process of moving from WA to CA. Parts won't be =
available until July 7th, according to the phone message. =20

Oh well, as they say, good things are worth waiting for<G>. =20

Thanks for all of the input, folks. Invaluable, as usual!=20

Hopefully for the customer, it's still within the warranty period.
