movers use but with "D" rings sewn into each end. The straps could be only 

a couple of feet long and since they are 2" wide they would provide plenty 

of support without digging in. Has anyone tried this before? Are there any 

other ideas out there for replacement of the ropes? >>

     I have had good luck with the simple cam anchored nylon tie-downs that 
you can buy at Wal-Mart.  The hooks on the end will go under the plate in the 
holes, and can be doubled around the struts if you want to put both hooks on 
the hoist.  They are cheap, strong, simple, and adjustable.
