It might be worth measuring a few random speaking lengths across the 
scale to see where the tension is. If the bridges were positioned 
incorrectly it might have too much tension.

If you publish the lengths to the list, we can check it on a 
spreadsheet. Sounds like the bass stringer was really paying 
attention.
