Get ready for a huge difference between your Palm and the Windows-based
PDAs.  Most people need to recharge daily and depending on use, some
have to plug in during the day.  
 
As for size, most of the leading brands are very similar with regard to
size.  But look at the extended memory options like CF cards or Sd.  A
huge amount can be stored on these and swapped just like floppy drives.
