I have to admit I prefer using plugs for key lead holes (you can buy premade plugs, which I prefer--I hate cutting plugs). I have seen some people use epoxy for this purpose, however. You will have to mix it with a generous amount of colloidal silica in order to make it viscous enough to hold the shape.
