Scrape the paint off the top and the crud off the sides with a razor blade, the paint can remain on the sides. Sand with 400 or 600 paper with a finish rubbing oil or water, then burnish with 0000 steel wool or gray Scotch-Brite. This is best done with each key held in a vise. A slight wood hue is acceptable, at least to me it is. Regards, Jon Page, piano technician Harwich Port, Cape Cod, Mass. mailto:jonpage@comcast.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
