Micrometer reading - 5 , and divide by 2. Gw=3D(d-5)/2

Subject: Calculate string size
Greetings,
Would someone be kind enough to tell me the formula for calculating =
the string size with the reading you get from the micrometer =
measurement?
I.E. if the mic tells me the thickness is .033 of an inch, What is =
the string size?
Thank you in advance
Mark
