Mathushek had been a big cheese at Steinway, non? I
have a remarkeable Mathushek upright action which
slides out as a unit ( keys and al) like a grand. But
it also has all sorts of extra hinged mechanical
doo-dads and springs on it, to achieve better
repetition, I suspect.
