Boingy bass-strings in smaller pianos

Hi,

I have read many posts on the list where people are 
criticising/observing/etc the undesirable/bad/etc. bass strings in 
smaller pianos. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I have a Steinway model L where 1 note is ringing or boingy, and 2 
other notes have started creeping up a bit in the past month, one of 
which was quite nice only a few months ago. I replaced the strings on 
the note with the most noise with strings from Arledge, but no change.

Also a M&H model A which has a randomly selected bunch of ringing or 
boingy notes of varying degrees.
