  Is this aux.bridge attached to the long  bridge? It appears so but not 
quite clear. This arrangement looks like Tom  Coles 1931( not 1929 as previously 
stated)

Yes, it is. I'm including another picture which might show the joint  better. 
The 1/2" dowels visible in the first picture go through both  bridges.
 
This AA is from 1933.
