Umm, there is a semantic swamp out there, but the palettes are what I see
as separate pieces attached to the hammer rail. I seem to remember some brands
that screwed the let-off dowels directly to the hammer flange rail, which
means there are no palettes and one rail does the job for both.
I usually associate the let-off rail as a separate rail, and the palettes
as simply mounting boards for the buttons. I dunno, nomenclature ain't my
specialty, since I am a whippen/balancier/ kind of guy...
