Robert,
Get the book, "On Pitch" from the guild store.  It has sections where 
you use the ETD like you would for aural tests.  In so doing you will 
become more familiar with the partials you are supposed to be 
listening too.  Ghosting can help too (sharply playing the coincident 
partial while holding the interval notes and listening to the 
after-ring).  It is one of the few references that really breaks down 
tuning to its basic parts and allows you to understand what you are 
trying to accomplish.
