without but your way might be more ....well... interesting.

alcohol does work well for soundboard removal. My  preference is dark rum on 
ice. 
 
First, before using the rum, set the piano  up on its long side (plate out). 
Support the piano somehow so  that it won't tip over. Next, sip and savor four 
or five shots of  that rum. Now you are ready. Take a two-foot long section 
of  two-by-four and whack away from the bottom side all around the edges  of 
the soundboard. It should pop out without too much effort.
 
Have one more shot of rum for a job well  done!
