---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Geoff, There are many different "electronic" applications/products that LPS makes. The Contact cleaner is one of them, (I think that is LPS-12?). I've been using LPS-1 for over 30 years and have never had any adverse reactions/problems in regards to use in pianos. I ALWAYS use it when doing pitch raises and the many friction points involved. The LPS line is very consistant and readily available, (Most decent hardware stores carry it.) As long as wicking and over spraying onto other parts can be avoided there is probably little harm that would be done. There are times when lubrication might help, I suppose, but the only times I've used it in recent memory was to improve the tunability of a string which was rusty and dragging on the understring cloth." I recommend LPS-1 lubricant, rather than Liquid Wrench. The later, stays there, forever, and is a magnet for dust/dirt. Whereas, LPS-1, lubricates and disapates into nothingness after a few hours. Also, I've found the use of an impact tuning lever helps ease the possibility of breakage. On grands, however, the impact thingee is not an aid, IMO. (?) Joe Garrett, R.P.T.
