I don't know who makes that bench, but if it's Jansen, they sell rebuilding

         Your use of the word unwinds must have thrown me off. What is it
that you mean by that? Does the seat go to it's lowest point when someone
sits on it? If so you have stripped out threads in the mechanism. The only
way to fix is to replace.
