The dampers are near the tuning pins, just like in a modern piano (sort =
of). The damper backaction and the dampers themselves are completely =
analogous to a modern grand piano - only with a slightly different =
arrangement in the bass to accommodate the angled action rail and belly =
rail, etc. in the bass.

Does that make it clear?
