Wouldn't that indicate that it was the pin turning?
With the screw stringer, staying in tune for a apparently much longer time, 
it would indicate that it was the turning of the pin that was having a 
greater effect?

The screw stringer (of which I have one) eliminates a wooden member, that
may influence stability.?.
