Different materials for hammer shanks

No, you don't understand.
The correct sequence for using yellow pencils as shanks is as follows:
# 1's for the first octave, #2's for the second octave, #3's for the third
octave, etc.etc.... <G>

Should have used a #3 lead pencil ... but only in the treble. A #1 lead
pencil for the bass ...
