It also seems to me, though I have no evidence, that felt like that would tend to hold moisture and increase the chance of strings rusting. Wouldn't it make sense to have some sort of removeable front-scale dampening system/device on these and similar pianos? I know the felt looks real pretty, but with the relatively high frequencies in scale noise, wouldn't stringing braid, or similar, damp these segments just fine? I didn't have trouble tuning it, except there was a lot of noise from those front sections. --Cy-- ----- Original Message ----- From: Brad Smith To: Pianotech Sent: Thursday, June 02, 2005 6:32 AM Subject: RE: Yamaha GH-1 tuning stability Hi Diane, I would call Yamaha directly about the GH-1 tuning instability. 1-800-854-1569 Ask for Greg Frank. If nothing happens, consider rescaling the lowest plain wire notes B3, C3, C#3 and D3 with wound bass strings instead of plain wire. Makes a huge improvement in any GH-1. But first, tell Yamaha the serial number, and tell them about the tuning instability.
