  Here are a few pictures of the  S.S. O & S.S.long  A  design. In the O 
picture it's more instructive to see the bridge layout over the  actual rib 
structure. You can see that the angle of the rib to the board grain  getting steeper 
& the ribs fanning to stay paralell with the bridge. It's  plain to see just 
how much chorter & stiffer the longest ribs were & now  are.
  Ron N. & O your comments about the tone getting stronger in the  second 
half of the tone envelope are right on. The bridge has also been moved  back at 
the top treble so that the  note 88 could get a 50 mm string length  increasing 
tension & power. This is sop on all redo. ON the  A I even  ground the plate. 
The original string length on the A was shockingly short  at about 46mm   & 
was changed to 54mm at 88
